"
Micro" sized Persians are described as
"Felines not exceeding 4 pounds when mature" and "displaying appropriate
Persian body type. A frame notably
smaller than that of their
conventional sized counterparts while
remaining
"proportionate".

I have often times before been
asked for some kind of linear measurement regarding our "Micros" and, though it is
not the easiest thing to do, I have measured torso length from 7-9 inches from
the front of the chest to the hind quarters. From the bottom of the paw to the top
of the shoulder about 6-7 inches. I notice consistently the shorter length of
the tail and the undersized paws (unless making dough!) The head is also
considerably smaller keeping the overall package proportionate. Our "Micro" sized
Persians are a copy of the larger Persians
in all ways
other than size.
Truly, I have no ability to
comment about what other breeders might be experiencing with their kittens but our
"Micro" Persians are born much smaller than the kittens delivered to parents that
do not carry the genes to produce the "dwarf" sized offspring. The
kitten, golden
female, shown below has been put on a scale directly after delivery and shows a
weight of 2.0 oz.
This weight translates to about half
the size of the larger or more"conventional" sized Persians.
Alternately, I
have seen litters
delivered in which the kittens can range from 2.2-2.8 oz and within the first four
weeks I seethe
"dwarf" genes begin to display. The litter can end up looking like a motley crew of
mismatched siblings. This happening with each kitten receiving high quality mothers
milk but supplemented with fresh goats milk too. The message being that nutritional
needs are met in a way that keeps the kittens satisfied and
body function at optimum.
